What is the difference between 2in and 3in composite deck?
Both produce composite floor slabs where the cured concrete and the embossed steel deck act together structurally. The 3in deck is deeper, giving a higher second moment of area and longer allowable unpropped spans (up to 14-16 ft for 3in versus 10-12 ft for 2in). The 3in deck is preferred for long-span commercial and industrial construction where reducing the number of secondary beams reduces steel weight and cost.
What is the embossment pattern for?
The embossment -- a series of raised dimples or ridges pressed into the deck rib surface by inline embossing rolls -- provides mechanical interlock between the steel deck and the concrete. Without embossment, the deck acts as a non-composite form only. ASTM A900 specifies minimum shear bond performance for composite deck; the embossment pattern is engineered to meet this requirement.
What cover width does the machine produce?
36 inches (914 mm) is the standard for US composite floor deck -- this gives three rib pitches per panel for both 2in (6in pitch) and 3in (12in pitch). The 24-inch cover width is available as an option, primarily for the 3in deep rib profile used in long-span applications. Confirm the cover width with your structural engineer before ordering.
What gauge range does the machine cover?
22 gauge (0.84 mm) to 16 gauge (1.52 mm) covers the full ANSI/SDI C-2017 composite deck standard. 20 gauge is the most common for office construction; 18 and 16 gauge are used for longer spans or higher loads. The machine runs all gauges in this range from the same tooling set.
Can the machine produce non-composite (form) deck as well?
1.5in form deck is a different profile from composite deck -- shallower, no embossment, flat pans. It requires a separate tooling set. The base machine frame and drive are shared; only the forming rolls change. We can supply both tooling sets as a package.
What certifications apply to composite deck in the US market?
Floor deck sold into the US market is typically produced to ANSI/SDI C-2017 (composite deck) or ANSI/SDI NC-2017 (non-composite). SDI certification requires the manufacturer to conduct and publish load tables based on physical testing. The machine is the production equipment; the manufacturer is responsible for SDI certification of the finished product.

How many forming stations does it use?
The line uses 18-24 (includes embossing rolls) forming stations. Station count follows the section — more bends and tighter tolerances need more forming steps, which is why two profiles rarely share one roll set.
What is the drive and installed power?
Drive: Heavy-duty gearbox; min 22 kW. Final drive sizing is confirmed against your profile and coil, because a wider or thicker section needs more torque to hold the same line speed.
